LAX arrivals and connections
Hi,
I'm hoping someone might be able to explain LAX to me. We are due to arrive into Terminal B (American) which I understand is TBIT. As we have several hours to kill before our flight out of Terminal 5 we are wondering if it's possible to access the restaurants within other terminals. I am quite confused with the official maps and there is very little choice in T5. I cannot seem to ascertain if after arriving and clearing customs if we have to go through TSA clearance again? I'm hoping its a bit like Miami whereas once though and luggage handed back in you can wander through the entire area? Thanks in advance

I don't see why you couldn't go to the other terminals, It would mean leaving the TBIT though , So you would have to come through arrivals and then go back through security at TBIT later on . There's something like 9 terminals at LAX.
However I've been in a few of the terminals there and there is very little until you get through security and I assume you can only do from the terminal your flying from. Imo its a very dull airport considering its size, We try to spend as little time there as possible and unfortunately there is very little in the area outside the airport. |

If the restaurants are airside, then you won't be able to get to them as your boarding card will not let you through security for that terminal.
How many hours is several hours? You would kill 2 in going through immigration and then going through security clearance into your departing terminal. |

I find LAX very poor for facilities- especially non airside. A newsagent and a coffee shop are pretty much it for all of the terminals ive been to.
We thought the airside facilities at TBIT were dreadful since the refit as well. The duty free shop was appallingly expensive and the restaurant choices were either a 'fine dining' over priced place upstairs or a way too small food court that had a Panda Express, KFC, pizza and sandwich bar. The old terminal used to have a fairly decent diner type place and a nice big pizza restaurant. I wish they would take a few hints from MCO with its Chilis, Outback and numerous other nice places! |

That's what I was thinking too! We arrive in to LA at 15:40 into Terminal B and leave again from T5 to San Jose at 19:42. The idea was to clear security, eat and be a little more refreshed by the time we arrive at San Jose. However, the options for food in T5 are horrendous and I was hoping that there was an area that we would need to pass through that might help!

Yeah i'm assuming the same but it would have been great to have used an hour or so getting some food (as I hate plane food) before our arrival into San Jose at 21:00.
Although it's not really late with the time difference and it being our first west coast trip it's difficult to know if we will be more tired/hungry/teasy than Orlando lol
