You may find many shop assistants / servers don't know what to do with them. If that's the case, ask for a manger as they will know how to process them. Currency cards seem to have taken them over but at the end of the day it's what you prefer.

In La we did encounter a few occasions where places didn't accept them, however in Vegas you can change them at the cage in all the casinos no problem. You don't have to spend them there, can change them as you walk through the hotels.

4 years ago we took travellers cheques, we were issued with a $500 one from the bank, who said we couldn't have smaller ones for it. Tried to use it the first day in Walmart for a shopping bill of nearly $400 - there were 7 of use in a villa and they refused saying we have to go to a local bank and exchange it.

I remember about 4 years ago saying Travellers cheques were on the way out as I had trouble with them in San Jose. Got shot down in flames😎

I've used them every year for the last 6/7 years on the West Coast and had no issues and some of those places aren't very touristy..

Only places I know of that won't take them is Victoria Secrets and Golden Coral but that's all over the USA.

In Vegas we usually change them at the casino cage each morning but have used a few in shops.

The youngish lad in Denny's near Disneyland didn't know how to process TC's but the manager came over and showed him.

My niece works for No1 Currency and she started laughing when I asked her if she could get me some TC's and only $50 & $20 not $100's. She said nobody used them anymore.

I order mine from the Post Office online and get them delivered to the branch 2 mins from my house . Couldn't be easier .

Plenty still use them far less hassle than the currency cards .

Thanks everyone. That's good to know as we have used them in Florida the last few years and would prefer to use them instead of a currency card.
