Vegas questions
Hi,
Just a couple of Vegas questions please - - where is the best / nearest Walmart please, I had a quick Google and there seems to be 2 or 3 of them. We'll be getting an uber or taxi from the MGM. - we'll be probs getting an uber from the airport to the hotel, will these just been waiting outside, or do you have to order one through your account? - is the welcome to Vegas sign walkable from the MGM? I'm guessing probably not in the heat lol. Thanks so much x

All Uber rides have to be ordered through the App, you can't get one anywhere by just hailing one as they are just normal cars.
The Vegas sign is about 1.5 miles and would take around 30 minutes each way I would have thought. Probably not something you will want to walk in one go. But if you do it as part of a stop of at Luxor / Mandalay Bay then it may not be too bad. |

The nearest Walmarts to the MGM are on Tropicana Avenue and Eastern Avenue which is sort of behind the airport , we use both all the time no difference in either really .
You could walk to the sign suppose the easiest way would be to go to the Excalibur which is just over the road from MGM and get the free monorail to Mandalay Bay and then walk the rest which isn't far . You could get a taxi or whatever but there often a long queue for the sign so would rack up the bill if they waited , we had to queue probably 20 mins for the sign in march Never used uber as we have a car but there will be loads of cabs at the airport and the MGM is very close shouldn't cost more than $15 in one . |

Thanks again for the useful info daytonababe, appreciated.
That's interesting about the monorail, think we want to have a nosey around the Mandalay Bay so will probs tie it all in together. Blimey 20 minute queue at the sign ! Thanks for the info

Yes it very popular .
And you will get people claiming to be photographers and offering to take pics for you for a tip of course . Some are very rude . Tell them to do one ;-) what we do is ask someone to take a pic and then return the favour for them or we use our selfie stick . |

I would go one evening.
Walk down taking in Luxor and Mandalay Bay on the way. We visited the Titanic exhibition as our DD was interested and we spent a good 90 minutes in there (got the tickets for half price). Been to the sign quite a few times over the years with various family and friends and never had more than a 10 minute wait. You do get party busses going and if you were unfortunate enough to get stuck behind one it could be be longer. You could then call an Uber from there to take you back. As mentioned, the impersonators (Elvis etc) and the wannabe photographers can be a pain but usually take a clear no as an answer. Never been hassled by one after just a single no thanks. Seen people being quite blunt in their declining and then getting hassle, so just be polite and they will soon find someone else to swarm over. Edited at 10:28 AM. |
