Death Valley

On this part of the route we shall be travelling between Lone Pine and Las Vegas.

Which route through Death Valley did you travel, why and what did you see?

Thanks

We did Darwin which is a ghost town with very few residents now. Great if you are into photography. Continuing across we did Paramint Springs, Stovepipe Wells, Furnace Creek, Mesquite Sand Dunes, Zabriskie Point, Twenty Mule team canyon, Artists Drive, Dantes Peak, Badwater Basin and other places.

living-las-vegas/2010/03...road-to-vegas/ is a good website to have a read of.

mojavedesert/mining-history/darwin/ is about Darwin. If anyone watched the last series of Top Gear, this was the ghost town the visited in the US road trip episode.

We did it the other way round and took route 190 through Death Valley.

Stops included:

Badwater Saloon (nice for lunch / drink)
Furnace Creek visitor centre
Badwater Basin
Artist drive
Dantes View
Zabriskie Point

Taking our time it took us about 6.5-7 hours.
