Child swap with no fast pass

Hi

I have done all of my fast passes 30 day in advance but there were a few rides that where no available such as the seven dwarfs mine train and of course flight of avatar given that we are going days after this opens. If I get to the park early and wait in the stand by line would I be able to a child swap as my youngest is to small and I don't want to have to stand in another 30-45 min queue again so my husband can go on

Ive never done it for those 2 rides but have for others. Best thing is to ask the CM at the start of the Q I suspect

Yes child swap does not require you to hold a fastpass it just means the first adult must queue. Once they have been on the ride the second adult will use the fastpass entrance regardless of whether the first adult could. The only problem is on popular rides the first adult will have a potentially long queue

Yes you'll be fine. Get there early and head there first, grab a rider switch and then the first adult will do stand by and the second RS. You can use RS straight away or later on if you prefer to wait. We did this a few times with seven dwarfs.

Is a rider swap an actual "thing"? I just assumed you all queued up and the adults took it in turns to ride/wait with the child at the front of the queue

It is a thing, we always went together last year but whoever was staying with the baby stayed outside. we were also a large party so we could split it to maximum of 4 people waiting which I thought was really nice

ETA. I'm pretty sure they don't even let small children queue as they measure them at the entrance of the queue.

A thing like a physical thing? If so yes, you get a paper ticket and it looks like an old style fastpass.
