Valet Parking NOT covered by Car Hire Insurance

A post a few days ago prompted me to email Alamo regarding Insurance cover for valet parking.
Alamo have just confirmed by email that any damage or theft that happened during valet parking is NOT covered by CDW/LDW.

This is quoted from their email to me.
"On the Alamo website, the details for the optional Collision Damage Waiver, clearly state that if the vehicle is damaged when used or driven by any person other than the renter or additional drivers (added to the rental agreement), that this would invalidate the CDW/LDW."

Given that most valet parking make clear that parking is at owners risk - this seems to suggest that valet parking is a no no for a rental car - assuming other car rental companies have a similar policy to Alamo.

I'd read this before, it was definitely part of the T&Cs on my hire car when we were in LV 4 years ago... it was also ignored and we valet parked a couple of times. The hotel/valet parking company will no doubt be responsible for any damage that happens to your car.

Similarly, when I hand my car into a garage here for MOT/repair etc, my own insurance doesn't cover any damage but I believe the garage has insurance for this

As I mentioned, as far as I can tell - valet parking is at OWNERS RISK.

I don't think it has ever changed... pretty sure it's always been that way

This doesn't only apply to Florida, it applies over here for your car if you use valet parking. your insurance won't cover you if your car gets damaged

How do you get on then if the hotel only offers valet parking as I think was the case when we stayed at the MGM Signature in Vegas.

Thats a problem. You would be taking a huge financial risk as you would be stuffed should the car be stolen.

This is why I posted as I and I am sure many others didn't know this.
