After our trip this October we're not planning on going back til Oct 2017 hoping TSL will be complete by then, then when we go back after that Star Wars land should be built... hopefully!

hopefully it will be showing when we go very early feb? but will miss fantasmic if it does replace that and we don't get to see that?
I took it to mean that the Star Wars fireworks would be similar to the current Frozen fireworks and be in addition to Fantasmic. Basically, they are replacing the current Frozen theming at DHS with Star Wars stuff.

Makes me feel less grumpy about not going back for a good few years. At least when we do, there will be LOADS that we haven't seen before. Exciting!

Does this mean Soarin will be closed next Summer along with pretty much all the rest of WDW closed while I am there?

I think that's a bit of wishful thinking there hun. I'm hoping Avatar land will be finished by Oct 2017, then maybe TSL and SWL 2018-2020 (although that may be wishful thinking on my part lol), but who knows with the speed they work

Star Wars for 2020 seems like a good guessimate. However I think Toy Story won't take as long. Maybe 2018 at the latest.

October 2017 is just over 2 years away.

Having said that, I doubt Disney will complete TSL in 2 years and agree that it'll probably be more like 2018 - 2020.

(Avatarland was announced in September 2011 and so, from announcement to opening, it'll be around 6 years. New Fantasyland was announced during the 2009 D23 Expo and it was completed in spring 2014).

So...not having been to DIBB in a long time (since just after my last trip to WDW in 2013) I found a bit of news relating to the new SWL to be built...

Damn.

So wifey is not into Disney as much as I am and the kids...well mid-late teenagers care little for it (so what if I am just a big kid!) so I always knew it would be a long time before I get to go back, however as a big Star Wars fan seeing this news and hearing the thoughts that it will be most likely around 2020 before it opens is slightly depressing as I know I will not be able to get another trip in before then leading to a 7 year gap.

:Sad face
