I don't see how it's big news it is all over social media at the moment. you pass through them to get on certain rides in universal studios and through the airport. I value my safety more than anything and I only had pins for pin trading and a vinylmation to sign when going through the parks in the summer the bag was also clear and they throughly searched me everytime.
Only due to humans Committing horrible acts so i see no problem

I have always said this about WDW parks, get metal detectors installed and get EVERYONE to go through them

I found it strange that when we arrived at DLP, we stayed at DLH ( great hotel ) we arrived and went straight in the park, ZERO Security check, nothing, just walked straight into the park, i found this a little strange

then when we walked upto the village, we saw people going through a airport style scanner and having bags X-rayed

So you stay off-site and you go through a airport style check, stay in a DLP hotel and NOTHING what-so-ever

How about an extra 20min, 30, 40, 60 - how long becomes too long? Where does the safety/convenience barrier lie?

safety first. It doesn't bother me for costumes over 14. I think they could do face paint or mickey ears or cool t-shirt and still get halloween look

We accept the delays at airports, for good reason, so we will accept it at parks too. When its a safety issue, nothing else matters.

Good speech. Lets hope they profile people not just pick every 10th guest or whatever. For arches to be effective EVEYBODY should go through them not just people selected on a whim.

the alternative - will still exist

plastic/composite guns, drone/missile attack, resort attack, ferry/monorail, or the biggie - staff infiltration. All this will do is stop a stupid person try to take a knife/gun in.

MNSSHP will be the exception surely despite what Orlando Sentinel says. I wouldn't go to a party evening if I wasn't allowed to dress up. This could cost them.
Not sure about the normal day age limit prior to this.

Although I'm not against passing through a metal detector, I do wonder how far things will be taken and wonder whether this is really necessary and whether it will actually help.

It's a bit strange about the complete ban on costumes for the over 14s though. I mean, this doesn't stop an adult wearing normal loose concealing clothes but does stop someone from, say, wearing a pirates outfit.

As for toy guns, I can understand not selling realistic-looking ones but not obvious space ranger blasters with flashy lights. Will banning the sale of these really improve safety?

EDIT: As someone elsewhere wrote: "a lot of it may be theatre, but those who buy into the story line that we are always in danger of attacks will likely be comforted by the theatre".

Don't mind this at all, better safe than sorry! I agree that they should start with everyone not just random people! As for not selling toy guns, why not?! If you have *supposedly* had your bag checked/been scanned on the way in then its obvious if a kid has a gun in the parks its a toy
