Hollywood Studios Closures
Disney’s Hollywood Studios will soon begin the largest expansion in the history of the park, including the highly anticipated Star Wars-themed land and Toy Story Land.
In order to prepare for the expansion, character greetings with Phineas & Ferb and Lightning McQueen & Mater will not be available after 4th January 2016. Additionally, the merchandise cart and the Joffrey’s kiosk located near Premiere Theater will be closed after 4th January 2016. |

I hope that they re-locate the cars somewhere! My little boy really wants to "meet" them in August!

Oh No... Gutted! Mater & Lightening were top of our list for our CARS mad son... Is HS worth visiting now that most things are closed?

Take him to Art of Animation as there's a great Cars themed area there where he can 'meet' and see a lot more
Lots of photos on Google: google/search?q=di...UIBygC#imgrc=_

Disney Mad Scrapbooker!
|
great idea! I hadn't thought of that!
Do you have to be staying "onsite" at at Disney to visit AOA or would we just turn up , park the car and say that we are having a look around? thanks

Just why didn't they build Carsland instead of Toy Story land ? Cheaper is the answer.
The one at Disney's California Adventure is SO popular. Whilst the Star Wars expansion will be brilliant even for those of us who are not devotees, it's wrong that so much has to close or be suspended for so long. They should greatly reduce the price of admission at DHS until it warrants full whack. |

Any idea when this massive expansion is going to be finished? We're due to go back in 2017 and it would be nice if its finished by then.

No, you don't have to be staying onsite. Anyone can have a look around. However, I'm not 100% sure about the parking situation as it sounds like they've going to start charging but not sure if it applies to all resorts or just the ones where parking there to avoid car parking charges seems to be a problem. An alternative option is to catch the bus there from a park or Disney Springs.
