Name Magnets on Stateroom Doors?
Is it 'safe' to put names on stateroom doors?
e.g. The 'Jones' family or first names on Mickey Heads? Thanks |

Yes it is safe - they won't make the ship sink so don't worry 😂

Great answer!
Joking aside though, make sure it is only magnets you use, no other adhesive is permitted and no over the door hangers now.

Note not all doors are metal so the magnetic strips won't always work. Have some Blue Tack with you as back up. We asked and they said it was fine as long as we ensured if was cleaned off properly.

Sorry to contradict you Geoff, but you are not allowed to use blu tac on DCL, only magnets.
All staterooms apart from concierge on the Dream/Fantasy are normal metal. Concierge are covered in a wood layer that means you have to use very strong magnets. Please don't use any other adhesive.

Thanks all! All we have are the homemade magnets...no other adhesives at all. I just wanted sure if someone could charge something to our room if they'd taken notice of our full names and surname e.g. "can you charge that to Mr. James Jones, room 8586".
Perhaps I'll just use our first names anyway...but thank you again and I appreciate the help! |

To charge anything, they need your KTTW card so anything on magnets is of no use to them.
We see lots of magnets saying things like 'The Smith Family's first cruise' and similar. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Certainly not what we were told. By all means contradict me all you want but I specifically asked at the Concierge reception and was told it was fine. OK it's possible that 3 Concierge staff got it wrong (as they all together said it was fine) but when I ask a question of official staff and get told an answer then I assume it to be the case.
Can I ask where it states blu tac cannot be used because I've never seen such literature? The only thing I can find is on a DCL blog : "The change in policy is primarily focused on the various types of adhesives guests have been using to decorate stateroom doors. Tape has always been prohibited; but now the policy is expanded to specifically prohibit the use of gel-like decorations and other cling like decorations. This also includes removable 3M Command hooks that people have been using to hang Christmas wreaths on the doors during the holidays.. Not looking for an argument by the way - just like to see the facts. |
