Mobile Med cruise August 2016

Hi all!

I have just spent several hours "playing" holiday planning.

For the 3 of us, 2 adults and a 6 year old, it's looking at £200 less for the 7 night DCL including our preferred port adventures than 8 nights in WDW! Although I'm tempted to go to WDW my partner would prefer to see sights and although he keeps saying about other cruises been cheaper - I still want a dose of Disney! *and* next year with free DDP it would be cheaper for 2 weeks in Disney than it would this year for 1 so...

What PAs has everyone chosen for their Med cruise this year? Anyone else tempted to do Villefranche as the day with no organised excursion?

Is anyone else thinking of just hiring a car instead of paying for the excursions? Have you done this in the past and found it has worked better or not?

We're thinking of doing the longest tour at the cheapest price for most days (if they're still available...) to get the most out of them. We often spend days out walking and seeing sites but does this seem too much for the 6 year old?

Any other hints and tips appreciated!

Mim

Hi we did the 7 night med last year - we had a fantastic time!

We did villefrance on our own, was really easy, we got the train to Monaco and had a walk around. Was really really easy. Villefrance itself is really pretty as well.

Book it you will have a great time!

we are probably doing most on our own, getting the train into Rome, then a red bus tour, might do the cheaper Pompeii with DCl, but that will be it. I think we could get away with seeing more on our own

We are doing a 7 night med cruise on 20th August this year and plan to get the train to Monaco from villefranche by ourselves. We will also get the train to Florence from Livorno and have done the train to Rome from civitaveccia many times. I think we will get the train to Herculaneum from Naples, we have done Pompeii before and that is also very simple.
At Easter we did a cruise with NCL and in Tenerife and gran canaria we hired cars for around £40 for the day and it saved us a fortune!
