First time in New York
Hi Everyone,
Me and my husband are going to New York 12th-16th April for 4 nights. I'm a little overwhelmed as to what to do. Ha! We are buying the new york pass with hop on hop off bus for the day... We are staying at The Manhatten in Times Square. Could you please look at our Itinerary and see if it looks ok? We can adjust as its not set in stone so any tips would be grateful? Thursday Walk/eat round Times Square Friday Stardust restaurant for breakfast Hop on hop off/Tour bus day Empire state building during the day Rockafella at night/ice skating Applebees for dinner Saturday Shopping day Chicago show Restaurant any ideas? Sunday 9/11 Brooklyn Bridge Staten Island Ferry Rooftop hotel for cocktails... any suggestions? Monday (last day flight at 9pm) Grand Central Station Central Park We don't have any ideas on restaurants or bars to go to? We don't want anything fancy a burger/chicken/steak joint would be fine with us ha! |

Ellen’s stardust diner was amazing, one of the best bits from our whole trip, apart from getting married of course 😊. This was our ‘wedding breakfast’.
Central Park is lovely to walk around, to Bethesda Terrace, over bow bridge. I can’t recommend the hop on hop off bus, The traffic is extremely slow, you can walk faster. I did a walking plan on google maps, so you don’t end up walking in circles. (A 30 minute walk took 45 minutes to go by taxi, I would have walked if i wasn’t in a wedding dress, it was very frustrating). Walking over Brooklyn bridge is lovely, we ate in Brooklyn (Juliana’s pizza) and walked back over the bridge at sunset and watched all the lights switch on. We actually did 9/11 in the morning, then walked to battery park via charging bull, had a coffee and pretzel sat looking at the Statue of Liberty, got on the ferry, then walked up to Wall Street, got a taxi over to Brooklyn and walked back over the bridge. We also did Empire State and rockerfeller in one day, and walked via grand central and Chrysler building, up Maddison Avenue. If you are starting the day at Ellens, it’s only a 5 minute walk to rockerfeller.

In Central Park, the Tavern on the Green is lovely for a meal or drink.
We have enjoyed (not expensive) meals at Virgil's BBQ, Juniors, Lindy's, Bubba Gump and Rosie O'Grady's all in the Times Sqare area. Stone Street - not far from Wall Street and 911, is a pedestrianised street full of great restaurants. We've also loved breakfasts/lunches at lots of delis including Speedys, Cucina, Crumbs, and ice creams at Coldstone Creamery. Brasserie Ruhlmann in Rockefeller plaza is lovely but more expensive.

I would definitely find time,to walk the high line, especially in April, when the weather can be quite pleasant.i would do it on the Sunday after the Staten Island ferry.
Also I would do the ride.its so much fun, especially if you join in & have a good time. If you want cheap drinks & want the New York experience, visit rudys.bottle of bud about $4,with a free hot dog lol.dont expect luxurious surroundings, but honestly,we had a great night in there, sat on their benches, held together with red duct tape,no joke, but we had such a laugh. Really need to return to NY. Tracy x

We did Tony di Napolis for dinner before going to a show. Lovely meal and it wasn't that expensive. Each dish serves 2 to 3 and they certainly do. The desserts were delicious too.
