Delays at Orlando international airport
Hi, Someone just told me that there are delays at the immigration hall due to refurbishment works. Is anyone aware of any delays?

We arrived Sat 14 April off TC from MAN. Through the kiosks and the officer inside 15 minutes then waited another 45 minutes for the baggage carousel to start.
Refurbishment works didn't really affect the speed through immigration but maybe it affected the ground baggage operations. Guess it will be anything between 15 minutes and 2 hours like it always was. Mick

I doubt it will be refurbs causing delays, more like the volume of people going through immigration. The airlines and MCO website mention the ongoing work and that it might cause delays, but really it’s down to how many other planes have arrived just before you. If yours is the first international arrival for some time, and you’re first off the plane, you’ll be through immigration in minutes.

No international arrivals say 30 minutes in front of you - through in 15 minutes. On the other hand three full international 747s a few minutes before you and maybe 1,500 in the immigration hall ahead of you. We landed maybe 15 minutes behind the VS from MAN and he hall was empty. My experience on Sunday 15 April arriving on VS15 from LGW: scheduled for 1715, touched down at about 1705, got to near the gate building at 1710. All the gates were occupied by other aircraft, had to sit and wait until one departed. Got off the plane at 17.30, 2nd person out of the bubble. There were still some passengers from the previous plane in the kiosk queue, but got to the transit at 1800. Drove out of the car rental garage at 1830.
The refurbishment work has been going on for 12 months - due to finish in the summer. Whilst last year there was no sign of the work (behind the scenes), it is now visible. They are obviously working on the baggage carousel area. The 2 carousels in front of the immigration booths are still there but are now numbered 3 and 4. Our bags came out on 1, which is way off to the right, in what looks like a separate room, but that is because the space where 2 will be is partitioned off. The walls and floor round 1 were clearly temporary - still a work in progress. There were no signs saying that 1 existed or that our flight was on it - bit chaotic. The bags from our flight were already coming out, so not a long wait. The queuing area for the kiosks had a 'temporary' feel to it too. I am going again later in the year, so hopefully it will be complete then. As the others have said, the time taken is not really determined by the building work, but by flights arriving all at the same time. Our flight had very few passengers, only about 100. There were 8 of us in EC in the bubble, so we had a row each, but PE was full. Based on that, I am not surprised that VA have been combining some of their flights this year and reducing frequency. |

We had a 25 minute day return ing the hire car to Orlando airport last week. There was congestion on the road and 3 lanes of cars were trying to filter in the single far left lane.
Eventually we managed to return the car 9 minutes late. It looked like other traffic was crossing the road just before the car park building from another car park?
