Ideas for Non-Theme Park Days

DH and I will be spending 9 nights at SSR in September using our DVC. This will be about our 15th trip and we have decided that for the first time ever we won't be buying Disney tickets.

We will not be completely theme-ark free, I am planning to do MNSSHP as I love it and also have a DVC free night at DHS, I am also thinking of a couple of days in Universal since we haven't been there since 2010.

What I would like is some ideas of nice places for us to visit that we may never have been to. We have been to the springs at Ocala, beaches at Cocoa Beach and Clearwater and the town of Celebration.

I would particularly like a nice town with maybe a bit of history and some more unusual shops to have a mooch round and also maybe some natural places that are worth visiting for a change. I am not a fan of shopping malls as DH gets bored quickly!

We don't mind travelling a bit further afield.

Any ideas?

I haven’t been myself, but St Augustine looks really cool and steeped in history

St Augustine is a nice town to visit... Its about a 2 hour drive north of Orlando Nice quirky shops on a pedestrian walkway and a castle... we stayed there for 3 nights and did a bus tour which finished at the castle and boat tour which saw Dolphins.

I would recommend Mount Dora about an hour away.
