I can’t find what I want!

We stayed in old Key West last year for 2 weeks with ddp in a 1 bed villa. We loved the resort, the space was amazing and the dining plan was effortless. We’re looking to go October 2019 so obviously OKW is out of the question. What is everyone else who wanted SSR/OKW booking instead? Everything I’m looking at just isn’t gripping me and is so much more money for less space! I’ve been comparing off site but by the time I factor in food it’s coming in the same as a deluxe with dining. Feel like I’m going around in circles! Anyone rented DVC through David’s? Just wondering whether it’s difficult to rent 14nts worth of points?
Edit:scrap the DVC question! By the time I factor in food, tickets and flights it’s coning to 11k for 2 weeks 😱

Laura I've seen posts where people have been advised to book "a second choice" then move the booking to OKW/SSR when they become available. Not quite sure how they are going to work the 330 as some people's 330 will be after the Free Dining offer ends. I believe Disney are keen to avoid this year's fiasco, where (myself included) everyone had a confirmed booking only to the be told we haven't & Disney having to move people to more expensive options.

SD, the problem with October is that OKW/SSR don't qualify for free dining after mid-September (16th from memory) next year. So while booking now and moving resorts later is a good option for earlier holidays that are still outside 330, it won't work for later ones as you'd presumably lose the free dining completely.

As for the original question - I guess it's weighing up the importance of staying onsite / free dining vs the space of the 1 beds. If the space is more important, I'd cost staying offsite in an actual villa or one of the condo style hotels. And I'm saying that as an onsite only person but I value my space too much to compromise on that if an issue.

Unfortunately for the OP, the last check in date for OKW and SSR for free dining is 16th September 2019, so they won't qualify They've ruled our DVC points with paying for food and tickets, so I'm guessing they're looking for an alternative resort option with free dining.

OP, what about looking at somewhere that has a great location over space, so you trade the two? The BC and YC have wonderful locations and facilities with the full DDP. It would be a completely different experience to OKW - could that balance out the reduced space? How much time do you spend in your room? I know that it's minimal for us, and 4 of us are happy in a moderate room for 2 weeks.

We're looking at renting Vacation points.
I think it all depends on everyone's situation. There's 6 of us. We're looking at some amazing Villas at AKL.
We'd originally wanted SSR for October 2019 with DDP and were gutted when we couldn't get it (tears and everything... ) but it's also made us look at loads of different options, we were also looking off site etc ... we did loads of calculations re the DDP and for us, renting DVC, buying tickets and paying OOP for food, works out better & cheaper for us ... (I think lol ... it's all still a work in progress... ).
Hope you find something that works.

Loldis that will explain why it was an option for our check-in (12th Sept) but not DS (20th), we had considered SSR for our week booking but thought 31 nights in the one place was too much! We didn't get out first choice either, might have done if Kenwood hadn't said "No" then "Yes" after we had already booked AK.

Whilst I haven't stayed there myself, some friends just got back from The Grove resort and spa. It is a new resort and the photos of the apartment they had looked really nice and modern. Might be worth a look.

We were in the same boat as you, so for a change have booked 2 rooms at POFQ with upgraded dinning.

We may consider changing if OKW/SSR becomes available later with the DDP but I think we will be happy to stick with what we have booked. Actually quite looking forward to the change as we will have stayed at OKW twice before.
