Chickenpox?

Hi my 13 year old has been complaining of joint pain and headaches the last few days and yesterday noticed a lot of chickenpox like spots on face, behind ears, neck, tummy and back, also has a mouth ulcer

Temp was 39 yesterday and at 38 today, they aren't itchy at all though, we thought he had already had chickenpox, came out in a few spots a couple years ago so thought it was a mild case, was chickenpox about at the time

Will phone Dr today to get him seen but does this sound like chickenpox with him not being itchy?

Thanks

I think the itching starts when the blisters are drying out, so it could well be chicken pox(I had it twice, once mild, once crazy!).

my daughter had very mild cases of chickenpox twice, the second time the health visitor also confirmed it because I was confused! Then she came out with good and proper so I do believe it's possible to have it more than once! It sounds very much like chickenpox and the virus will cause a high temperature. The itching comes later as the spots dry out.

Could be shingles? I have had them and sounds like you described. The first one that emerged was itchy though but that could be because it was in a place irritated by clothing.

Yes confirmed chickenpox, has mild itching and is covered in spots, on scalp and eyelids as well

Having a horrible time with it, temp been high since Sunday when I saw the first spots, sore throat started yesterday so is barely eating, got virasoothe gel so that seems to be easing the itch, some big spots appearing now

When should it start to settle down? seems to be getting worse with each day

I think the spots can keep appearing for about a week although it does vary slightly from person to person. He may need antihistamine tablets to help with the itching. Please send him our love. I know a few people who have had chicken pox more than once.

Poor thing. Tepid baths with bicarb of soda really helps, it was the only thing that gave my daughter any relief when she suffered with chicken pox.

Both my daughter's had it terribly. I cannot recommend enough regular Piriton to stop the scratching and calamine and glycerine cream from boots to dab over each spot x

Don’t give him ibuprofen for the temperature. I’m not sure why but it’s not recommended to be taken when you’ve got chicken pox. Stick to paracetamol. Some people swear by putting oats in the bath. It’s supposed to soothe the spots.

Hi thought spots had cleared up a bit so he was at school today, had it pretty bad, had blisters bursting and thought he was ok, 17 days now and he has said tonight a blister burst on his leg which I didn't spot, is he still infectious?
