Some perspective - there are on average 5,800,000 road accidents per year the USA (not including those not reported). So 100,000 times what we are talking here. And 37,000 deaths. And 1700 road related deaths in the Orlando area alone.
Are you going to stop going out on the roads when on holiday? Think I will continue to enjoy my caesar salads. As I said earlier - this is statistically meaningless. |

I'm not sure I understand your point tspill. If it's about perspective then if you were to get sick from eating tainted food, you wouldn't want to have known of the possible risks beforehand?
This is simply information for people who may be at risk of death or serious illness through youth/age or immune problems, to be aware of the risks. The CDC is simply doing its job in reporting to the public to prevent unnecessary illness and/or deaths. It's common practice to recall foods that could cause harm or illness and it's entirely up to the individual to use this information however they choose. Enjoy your salad |

By no means is this thread meant to worry people but simply to inform them that if they don’t know the source of the lettuce and are in an affected state, please be aware of the risk.
It’s espicalally useful for vulnerable people eg; children, elderly, immune compromised. I think I’d much rather know beforehand if I was visiting an affected state so I can be aware rather than know nothing and get quite ill and risk making my four year old even more unwell. I mean, if the BBC reported that you should avoid eggs bought from tesco because of salmonella, you’d check your eggs! It’s not to cause worry for nothing, if that’s the impression it gave, I apologise. I simply wanted to warn anyone visiting an affected state to make sure they know the source of the lettuce they are eating! Edited at 06:06 PM. |
