I had a wound that needed daily packing, I'd had it for seven months by the time we went and it took a year to heal. I'd had endometriosis and a lump of scar tissue had formed around it on my cesarean scar to the size of a tennis ball, leaving a wound 7cm deep and 5 wide. Nurses showed hubby how to pack and dress it, airline were fine and gave me an extra bag to have dressings as hand luggage and insurance didn't bat an eye. I was a bit miffed that I only got to dangle legs in the pool but it didn't hamper my enjoyment of the holiday. I did trawl up and down the special needs aisle of Walmart hoping to find some sort of adult swim nappy (bear in mind we were only ever going to be in our own villa pool) but couldn't find anything... i even experimented (I promise this is true!) to try and fashion a pair of water proof cling film pants so I could have a dip... DONT TRY THIS AT HOME! (or villa) needless to say it didn't work! It did give us a laugh though. I'd still rather be sat poolside in the water only from the knees down, in florida, than anywhere else in the world. I'm sure you will be ok, try not to worry and have a lovely time xxx

However you can get waterproof dressing that would allow you to go in water. The normal ones are no good but you can get special ones in all sizes. Check with your nurse. She may be able to supply them if not a chemist will
Not cheap at over a £1per dressing but very good. Do not go to boots as I find their dressing prices are way aboclve a normal chemist dressing price.
Please check with your nurse, I was advised not to swim, germs in the water etc. Despite this I still tried to fashion the cling film... but my intention was five mins in the water before the dressing was washed and re packed. But upon reflection it would have been a silly risk to take. My wound took a further five months to heal with suction therapy tried and all sorts, which was horrendous, let alone if I'd have got any nasties in there xx

If the only seats they had left were on the wing I might have to think about it but not because I couldn't swim.
