The trigger for me was being diagnosed T2 diabetic.
Two factors - 1. Being scared of not being around for my family and 2. The meds I’m now on kill my appetite completely - great side effect! I do miss carbs, but they are the real key to weight loss as pp has said.

If exercise doesn’t help you lose weight then I think I’m out of options!😂
I’ve gone over my diet and there’s not anything that I would change, apart from cutting out the one treat a week. 😂 I sometimes wonder if I should just speak to my doctor and see if there is something else going on. |

I honestly don’t think there is anything wrong with my diet, with me having coeliac disease, I’ve always had to be quite educated about food and I followed slimming world for quite a while so I’m pretty good at it. There’s also things I can’t change because of the coeliac disease.
A colleague of mine has just gone on slimming world and she’s losing quite a bit and the only difference between her and me is the fact that she doesn’t have a treat once a week! I think what’s bothering me is the fact that I’m not even maintaining at times, my weight is just slowing creeping up despite me having a fairly balanced diet. I am wondering if maybe I do have an under active thyroid as I do have a lot of the symptoms and l already have one autoimmune disease, so it’s a possibility. It’s either that or the fact I don’t really burn off anything I’m eating. |

I lost about 2.5 stone before COVID-19, have now put a stone of that back on since COVID-19 started. Mainly because I've been running much less and eating more snacks...
Pre-COVID I used to sign up for 10ks every few months and a half marathon maybe every year or two, which was good motivation to run. Can't wait until these races come back where I am, without them I've been finding it hard to make myself run longer distances. That being said, a month or so ago I decided enough was enough with the weight gain so I am now trying to make myself run or walk every day. This was around the time I got Disney+ so it's been great just putting on a show and running/walking on the treadmill! In terms of weight loss I always see it as calories in vs calories out so it's trying to get the right balance between the two. When I lost weight before I was still eating crisps, chocolate, ice cream, etc, just in more controlled portions, while also exercising more, so am hoping I can do the same thing this time since that worked before!

From my experience diets do not work, as after a while you will fall off the wagon and you'll pile it back on.
I lost 3/4 stone in a year with calorie control. It really is that simple. First work out your basic metabolic rate calculator/bmr-calculator.html Mine comes in at 2345..so this means if I did no exercise to MAINTAIN my weight id need to eat that in calories a day. If you track your calories and eat less than that, you start to form a deficit. If you then exercise, you'll burn more calories.3500 calories equates to a bout a lb. Putting that in to maths.. 7 days..total calories needed for my BMR..16,100 In those 7 days, I eat 14,700 calories I burn 2500 calories in the week going jogging and classes at the gym Deficit = 3900 calories a week, which should see a loss of a lb a week. Its that simple. I still drink, eat sweets etc..and if i know im having a big weekend, ill almost fast for a few days, so you "bank" those calories. I've kept the weight off, have gone from a XL to almost medium t shirts..and its manageable around my life which is the key thing if you want any sustained weight loss. Its a lifestyle change at the end of the day. Also get into a routine. Im boring as fu<k most of the week. Same porridge, same lunch at work..but it means im in control. |

Look up Rick bhullar in you tube. He does free walking workouts and has a very informative video on diet and how to get the best results. Someone on here suggested him and it’s one of the best things I ever did was to look him up. He’s very motivational and most importantly fun.
