I got lots of the ideas already given when I went through my chemo and I really appreciated them all. But I also didn’t want to feel a cancer victim all the time.

My sister-in-law regularly sent me lovely little cards all through my treatment and I really appreciated those. They came all through my 18 months of treatment and I loved receiving them.

They mentioned mouth ulcers, so perhaps some boiled sweets, also some nice biscuits maybe ginger and crackers. Hope she doesn't suffer too much. 😊
Manuka honey, high strength, is great for sore mouths. 4 years later I take a teaspoon every morning. If your mouth is sore you can just roll it around your mouth, it shouldn't be too runny if you keep it cool and it just melts and eases ulcers.

Ginger biscuits are great as it helps with sickness feeling but if that gets bad then tell his consultant as they will not give anti-sickness meds to start with as so expensive, but tell them on 2nd round if sickness was bad.

I also craved strong tastes like salt and vinegar crisps, roast beef, horseradish sarni and beetroot.

The smell of the fridge made me want to heave. Senses like taste and smell go crazy on chemo.

Good luck to your DH. Count the cycles as in 1 done 5 to go rather than how many days til the end. Also he will feel very tired for a few days after chemo given, so plan quiet restful days. Sleep will be disturbed by steroids, so awake all night, asleep all day. Remember it gets better.

We did this for my daughter’s best friend.
Some lovely soft pjs, slippers, unperfumed cream, lipsalves, sweets, nice cordial, hand cream, something like bonjela or oral gel for mouth ulcers, soft tooth brush
Hope this helps

Thanks Ruthie, they are definately giving him anti sickness, as he's having accelerated mvac chemo, he can only have it once a fortnight. Then hes going to have a radical cystectomy with neo bladder and possibly more chemo after. Thanks for the tips, will get some manuka honey in. 😊

All good now thanks, had breast cancer in 2017. Surgery then 6 rounds of chemo. It is a scary time from diagnosis to starting treatment, it consume you, you go to sleep thinking about it and then starts again when you wake.

Please feel free to DM me if you need any advice or support or just a chat about side effects, I don't mind at all if I can help.

Take care
