Here in Coventry we have

Green lid ….. general waste ( once a fortnight)
Blue lid …. Recycling ( once a fortnight)
Brown lid …. Garden ( once a fortnight)

We store our bins to the side of the house in between two gated areas

I like our ‘ wheelie bin only’ approach but we are lucky that we have a perfect space at the side of the garage to store them
Can’t remember exactly but do recollect them saying some will be worse off with more bins and bags than at present. Do remember thinking Chelmsford would be better off as we would have less.

Still like ds’s option of 3 bins which covers everything. The theory behind the new system is it will encourage people to recycle more rubbish but tbh we sometimes can’t be bothered with all the different bins and bags and put things in the black bin instead.

We are Ashfield District in Nottinghamshire.

Red lidded - 75% size - general waste - every 2 weeks
Green lidded - 100% size - recycling - every 2 weeks opposite to general
Blue lidded - 50% size - glass recycling - every 8 weeks alongside general
Black lidded - 100% size - garden waste - extra £20 per year (we don’t pay,) collected every 2 weeks alongside general

Our red, green and blue bins are kept out front and the black bin is in the back garden - we will have to get it emptied at some point.

Edit - not one collection has been missed because of Covid.

In Doncaster we have
Green wheelie garden waste
Black wheelie general waste
Blue wheelie cans, paper, cardboard recycling
Green box glass recycling all collected 2 weekly (2 bins one week, bun and box next week)
We are lucky enough to store ours at the side of the house by the utility door and still have room to walk past x
