Its all automatic. You will be assigned a supplier.

Ofgem say you can cancel your DD if you want to - might be worthwhile to avoid any ‘unexpected’ payments.

Just signed up for a smart meter with EDF - hoping its a second generation one.

Nothing I can do about these high bills other than trying to reduce my consumption I guess.

We are their customers as well - we only switched to them 3 months ago from Octopus. I wish we had stuck with Octopus, despite the big hike in prices.

Apparently we should take photos of the meter readings, download recent bills (although their website won't let me at the moment -probably overloaded with customers like us)

I hope I can change from whoever we are allocated as a supplier - I want a choice. Octopus was on the news yesterday saying they had bulk bought and prices should come down again - I am going to try and go back to them once our switch to whoever happens

Our Avro energy account is locked and no data available

This is frustrating, isn't it. It is not like we all chose dodgy providers...

I have just managed to get into Green and downloaded 2 recent bills. I hope it is a blip with Avro getting into their site, and hopefully it is just a precaution downloading the bills

With Avro, just negotiated to reduce my monthly direct debit from £76 to £65 as we were couple of hundred in credit. Took forever to answer the email, I suspected they were going to go belly up. My eyes are watering at some people’s monthly costs! Cancelled my direct debit and taken a photo of meters so will just sit and wait. Hope the remaining companies don’t increase too much while we are waiting to switch over as we may miss the boat on the cheapest(although expensive) tariffs available at the moment.

You can switch as soon as your new supplier is allocated.

I wonder if the government will be covering the extra costs for those families who can’t afford the circa 40% increases.

My fixed tariff ended last week and I went with the cheapest available (from £123pm to £160pm gas & elec) - the contract lasted 4 days! Most price comparison sites weren’t offering anything - of those that were, the best deal was £250pm! 😱
