Key fob protection against theft?

I read on here a few months back about key fob protection and I can't find the thread.

Can anyone recommend anything for me?

Thanks

Search faraday pouch. Some new cars have a sleep mode on the keys so they can't be detected.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that one. At the moment we are using a very rubbish tin, I was told to line it with foil

We have just brought a new car and I think we probably should be cautious and get some proper protection

I bought two. One for the keys I use and one for the spare set. Take one on holiday as well!

For anyone interested Amazon have this one on a limited time deal for £6.79 down from £7.99. Or £6.06 in a different colour.

My daughter bought this one last year and finds it ok.

We bought our box off Amazon which is great, and a pouch for when the keys are in a pocket or bag, excellent

The newer cars (higher end often) now have accelerometers in the keys. This is becoming standard. Basically detects when the key is not being moved and switches off the signal. Quite simple technology but stops relay theft as the key doesn’t give out a signal when it’s hung up, on a table etc and stationary. Check if you have a newer car if your keys have this, as pointless getting a Faraday if it does.
Tesla updated their key security a while back (I had to put the key on the centre console and press a button on the screen and it downloaded an update to the key) but they don’t have the accelerometers in them so I’ve got keyless drive switched off on the console (it’s an option). A bit of a hassle to press the key fob but relay theft impossible. Also have pin to drive on, so good luck to any thief with mine.
