Las Americas premium outlets - SanDiego

Hi, fingers crossed we should be travelling out on the 28th December. We are not sure about where to do some shopping… either Fashion Valley or the outlets near the Mexican border. Is it a safe are to drive to?

When working in San Diego I went to Fashion Valley and enjoyed them - I used to drive but you can get a trolley from San Diego right to there too if you dont feel like driving

We went to the outlet near the Mexican border. We didn’t buy anything and it was typical of any other, Florida outlet. Having said that, we are not big shoppers, normally only buying Timberland and Levi.

Hi-whilst in San Diego a few years ago, my DH fancied going over the border to Tijuana bit I wasn't bothered so he dropped me off at the Las Americas premium outlets beforehand

He was delayed coming back through Mexican border control so I ended up being there for 5 hours-great shopping!

Felt totally safe as a fifty-something female on my own

There is a fab Disney Outlet there and you can sign up/use your Premium Outlet discount vouchers too

The outlet mall near the border is safe enough on it’s own, but there are some not very safe neighborhoods near the border that I wouldn’t want to get lost in, so be sure you know exactly where you are going with a sat nav or have it mapped out ahead. It is so close to the border, and I know people who took a wrong turn and ended up at the border instead of the outlet mall. I usually go to Fashion Valley and Mission Valley malls, and the Westfield UTC mall near La Jolla is a nice one too- westfield/utc...lots of high end stores here, though of course you don’t get the prices you get at the outlets, these are all safe areas to go to.

I recall a small, but rather good, Westfield in centre of San Diego but have an inking it has closed or changed hands ?

You may be thinking about Horton Plaza, that one was in the middle of downtown. It closed a few years ago and is being demolished right now to build a new office/retail complex.
