USA internal flights

Looking at Hawaii next year and some of the west coast

We can get a multi trip with virgin
Lon to honolul stopping at Seattle for 14 hours
On way back San Francisco to London direct

Would need to pay separate for a flight from Honolulu to Los Angeles which carrier would you use and are cases included

Just returned from Hawaii yesterday. We flew American Airlines and had to pay extra for cases. They were $30 each. Think most of the airlines are similar we booked based on price only.

I have researched this at length.

Option 1.
A typical London- Hawaii, staging through any of SFO, LA, Vancouver, Seattle and back… around £1600pp return.

Option 2.
London -SFO and maybe LA- London on one ticket £500 Ono.

After maybe a couple of days in SFO, SFO-Honolulu returning Honolulu to LA with a couple of days in LA before flying back to the U.K.. £370 or so.

Total £870.

Suggestion..
Look at a variant of option 2.

We can get lhr to Honolulu economic out and sfo to London premium return for 62500 miles and £450 each which seems good

Due to dates and reward miles these are the only options open at present for sept 22

Therefore a honulu to lax flight needed.

Want to drive lax to sfo and have a week on Hawaii and a week on West coast

We’ve done it a few different ways.

The best price I had was about £850 (can’t remember exact price) from Heathrow to Oahu (Honolulu) economy and Maui (OGG) to Heathrow Premium Economy / Delta’s version of PE.

We also used a combination of points to fly Upper from Heathrow to Seattle and economy return to LAX which IIRC was £500 each and a lot of points, prices are higher for upper now. We bought flights from Seattle to Oahu and Maui to LAX separately for about £300 return - I could have done better if I’d planned earlier but it was a bit last minute! We used Hawaiian and if you sign up for their club (free) checked luggage is half price at $15/case.

Prices for accommodation have gone up a lot since COVID so check that out too.

My experience is all pre COVID so may not hold.

I would not pay more than £800 or so return (economy) personally.

I have researched the route you want (LAX to Honolulu) a few times in the past. We will do it one day and I think we may go in Hawaiian Airways as we would probably want to do a bit of island hopping and so seems easiest way.

But other than that, I would not be fussy over which US domestic airline, I would go with the cheapest and most suitable flight time.
