Mobile information on transportation to London (Title edited)

No matter which airline, airport and stop over we look at London Heathrow is by far the cheapest option for our dates.
We are not big travellers and never flown from anywhere apart from Manchester before 😬😬 So I apologise for being totally clueless.
Car travel is out of the question because we won’t all fit in the car.
Return flights to London seem very expensive at the moment so the best option is train travel.
If we get the train down there, is there a premier inn close by? (I am hoping to get two rooms for under £100)
Then how do we get from the premier in to Heathrow airport?
Coming home we will go straight from the airport to the train station so I assume a large taxi (5 people, suitcases & wheelchair)
Thanks 😊

Hi FT!

There are a few close Premier Inns to the Heathrow terminals. I might suggest one over another depending on which terminal you’re flying from but it doesn’t make a huge difference.

There is a Hoppa bus service which runs between hotels and the terminals - but with five of you and a wheelchair I would personally budget for a taxi to make life a little easier.

There is a Premier Inn inside Terminal 4 and you could use the tube/train transfer service which might be easier too.

We usually get rooms at Heathrow for £39 or less so two rooms for £100 should be very possible

There are several PIs around Heathrow, just choose the one closest to your terminal based on which airline you end up booking with. For the UK carriers, BA is in Terminal 5 and Virgin is Terminal 3.

In your situation, I would get a taxi or Uber XL from the PI rather than the Hoppa bus. Front desk should be able to order a taxi for you.

We have just done train down to Heathrow from York for first time. Booked open return so that we weren’t tied to times on way back see below
Straightforward journey down there and Uber XL Kings X to Heathrow was fun to see some of London took about 45 mins £57
We stayed Hilton Garden Inn was good hotel with walk to Terminal 2 and 3 but 2 rooms deffo not below £100. I’m sure others will mention Premier Inn Bath road
Return- Uber XL again £50 but driver was not keen to help us fit our 5 bags and 4 people in his car, there were lots of roads closed so took well over an hour
Train engineering works meant lots of trains had been cancelled and were taking twice as long (and v crowded) but we just slept on and off most of the way
Certainly safer than driving

That doesn’t sound good 😬
I don’t even know how long a train takes from Wigan to London 😂😂
Travelling home is horrible without being delayed etc

Wigan to Euston is only about an hour and a half. We used to do London to Preston all the time.

Why has this been moved to accommodation 🤔
I need information on transportation to London and from a premier inn to Heathrow. I already know I am staying in a premier inn.
Can it be moved back to planning please because people may not see it here and I need help to plan it 👍🏻

FT, I don't know your dates, but have you looked at flying down to Heathrow from Manchester the day before flying to Orlando?

There's a flight at 15:55 from Manchester, gets to Heathrow around 5, would give you time to get down to London, go pretty much straight to the hotel, chill for the evening before flying to Orlando the next day. No getting across London in rush hour with all the family/luggage/Masons wheelchair, and you can fly home from Heathrow to Manchester when you land home. I don't know prices, but might be worth a look.

This is what I would do anyway (I live near Heathrow, and can't be dealing with the traffic at the best of times!)

My husband has looked at flights from Manchester to London but it was Gatwick so then we would have to get to Heathrow.
Do you know who the flight was with that flew to Heathrow?
Thanks 😊

I fly from Heathrow to LA now and again and always fly down from Manchester. The flights are with BA - usually around £120 each with checked in luggage. There's approximately six flights per day.
BA flights go into Terminal 5 and Virgin departs from terminal 3. I've stayed in several of the hotels and used both hoppas and taxis to get to and from the airport. I'd suggest a taxi for convenience.
