Couldn't agree more. We wouldn't even consider booking a trip to the USA without having an ESTA in place before hand. Crazy to to think that people would risk it for the sake of 14 dollars!

While I agree it is reassuring to do all in one group and given your time frames I would possibly wait too.

But if group consists of adults and poss not just you and your partner I would encourage the other adults to read the screening questions and see what they think.

I personally think that adults should do their own anyway - in the interests of full disclosure etc.

Had a work colleague who booked big family and friend trip all paid for and when it came down to it the partner of one of the friends took one look at the screener questions and realised they had a problem. Nobody else knew and they didn't know to look. They got a visa alongside a nice weekend in Belfast eventually. But it was squeaky towards the end !

An ESTA costs the same as 4 lattes

We've had live ESTAs since they were introduced in Jan 2009.

Same here. For the sake of $14 I’d rather have them and have the option of a trip than be worrying about getting one. We renew as soon as they expire.

You never know when you might find a spare £10k in your current account so you can go tomorrow. One less thing to worry about.

Are you option to adoption Mick? I'll even throw in a nice DIL and 2 lovely grand kids in the package

Very nice of you to offer pad but we already have two lovely daughters (one of them a Dibber) and three teenage grandchildren so I'll pass this time.

Yes absolutely, if there is anything that prevents you going you will be covered or if all or part of your holiday supplier goes bust.
