SUV range at Port Canaveral (Alamo)
When we come off of our upcoming cruise, we will be renting either an Intermediate or Standard SUV at Port Canaveral from Alamo Brits.
Does anyone know if "Skip the Counter" is available at Port Canaveral? Also, DH is concerned that the selection of available cars might be limited there, does anyone have recent experience of picking up a car there/what was available? Please feel free to add any other advice/suggestions about picking up a car from Port Canaveral.

Sadly it's not a skip the counter location. Those are almost all exclusively at airports.
I have booked with VA to do the same thing next May. If the car is a dog it will be taken straight to the Disney Car Care Centre and swapped out. However still do online check in as that speeds up the process nicely.

Thank you Mr TM, we will indeed do online check in.
We had wondered about changing the car if we don't like the choice at Port Canaveral. Can anyone change at the Disney Car Care Centre, or would we have to go to MCO to swap as we're not staying onsite at Disney. If it helps anyone, I can try to take pics of what's available at Port Canaveral in November.

You can change anywhere, you don't have to be at Disney to use the CCC. You have to have a reason though. Maybe the car smells of cigarettes or it pulls to the left!

Ah, that's good. I'm sure we'll think of something Last year we had to change as our hire car had hundreds of tiny spiders coming out of the dashboard! Yes, really. The year before we had brakes that shuddered/vibrated... that's maybe a bit more believable.

We stopped off there today to change our full size car. The one we picked up from Miami had an ant or spider infestation - couldn't quite decide what they were apart from small and fast and loads of them Cape Canaveral were very helpful but there was only one full size there which we were quite happy with. It was near closing time though so I assume they had already had their cruise customers in.

Good to know the staff at Canaveral are helpful. What is it with insect infested hire cars

I know. Freaked me out. The only consolation was we worked out the air conditioning kept them at bay but they came out in force when the car was parked up and hot
