My Cruise - Update
Sitting here waiting to go ashore in Lisbon for a coach excursion so I thought I'd do a brief trippie.
First time on a cruise and to be honest I hadn't expected it to be so full-on ! It's filled to capacity of 3000+ passengers and all sorts of people - families with young children, smart couples, elderly and quite a few people in wheelchairs which would have surprised me but it seems easy for them to get around. There's a full programme of activities from 7 am to midnight and later. I admit to being anti-social especially as I'm sailing solo but it's nice to sit in a bar in the evening listening to the entertainment. Too much food. I doubt I will get to eat in all 12 restaurants during the 7 days ! Weather has been fine throughout (we set sail on Sunday) and yesterday was sunny and warm enough for sunloungers on top deck. One unexpected 'event' on Sunday evening about 4 hours after leaving Southampton. Someone was taken ill and had to be airlifted back. All open decks were closed and everyone on my deck had to evacuate our cabins because the helicopter was landing on the next deck up. Took a couple of hours end to end. We haven't heard how the person is now, hope they are on the road to recovery. I had a spa treatment yesterday - a hot stone back, neck & shoulder massage and it was an hour of bliss ! Friday is an Elemis anti-ageing facial (about 10 years too late but what the heck !). Tomorrow is Porto, and Saturday we stop at Cherbourg on the last leg homeward. I've got an excursion to Bayeux which I'm exciting about, I've always wanted to see the tapestry. As usual I've gone on for too long but just wanted to say I'm enjoying it and will do another one in the future. Linda. Xx Edited at 09:12 AM. |

Sounds amazing. We have done one cruise and always plan to do another but somehow never get round to it.
Enjoy the rest of your trip, oh and please post about your facial, I do love a facial! |

Ah Linda thanks for taking the time to post that, it is great to read. We have often thought of doing a med cruise so it sounds great. I agree completely always too much food on cruises. Have to excercise restraint...or not! Enjoy your trip today.
Hope that person is doing well too. Must have been very frightening for them.

Hi Linda
Thank you for your interim trippie As I mentioned when you first posted hope you enjoy your tour of Lisbon - we did. Assume that you are docked in the river near the big bridge? Oddly enough when we cruised from Southampton a few years ago we also had a passenger airlifted off and we'd hardly left the Solent. Enjoy the rest of the cruise Mick & Joan

Sounds like you are having a wonderful time. You'll love the Bayeux tapestry - it's fantastic to see. They'll give you audio headsets to wear and it really helps bring the whole story to life.

Nice to hear how things are going . Especially as my parent's and brother and his family are on your ship . Glad to hear the weather is good, really hoping they are enjoying it too! If you see a couple in their 80's celebrating their Diamond wedding anniversary, with a very tall man, red headed wife and 10 year old son, say hi lol!
Enjoy the rest of your trip.
