West Palm Beach
Last year we flew into Miami, stayed overnight at the Hilton and drove up to Orlando the next day stopping at Vero Beach which we all loved.
We don't go till next August, but have been thinking about either flying into Miami again, or Fort Lauderdale, and possibly driving up the same day to somewhere like West Palm Beach, and staying overnight. Has anyone got any information about the area? Or stayed there? I don't know too much about the and is just an idea as flights aren't booked yet but wanted to get a few ideas in my head!

We stayed in The Breakers a few years ago - very nice and there were some lovely restaurants nearby (although like most places we had to drive from the hotel to WPB shopping / eating locations) .

My daughter worked in Palm Beach Gardens for a year which is near West Palm Beach. We stayed at the Embassy Suites and also the Double Tree Hilton both in Palm Beach Gardens. There was a small shopping area opposite the Double Tree which had a Publix and a couple of places to eat.

West Palm doesn't really have a beach so don't make that your first reason to visit. People in that area will generally beach it a bit north or south. But it's got a vibrant downtown along Clematis Street or the nearby CityPlace. Check it out! Or give Delray Beach a good look. It's about 20 minutes south of WPB and my favourite!
