Just asked my teenage daughter, who stayed at Rosen Inn in June, and she said they had no issues at all with beggars on Idrive.

I was approached by one last night when I left the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester last night...she was very polite too

Cannot be as bad as Miami. There were loads asking for money and several in a particular McDonalds asking to buy them food or give them cash. They were sat there on their iPhones waiting for the next mug which would not be me !

We have beggars in our local shopping precinct here in Harrow. The Police seem loathe to move them on.

The worst I've witnessed is in San Francisco around the City Hall end of Market Street.

Some are polite and will hold a door open for you at McD's etc and I'll pop 50 cents in their cup. Some, however, can be quite aggressive and threatening making for an unpleasant experience.

We were followed recently in St. Lucia until I told the guy where to go.

Very true!
Anybody acting in a suspicious or bothering way would be dealt with by security.

I don't know about in the UK, but here Beggars can make several hundred dollars a day, many times more than the minimum wage. Who wants to work full time for$50-60 a day, pay taxes etc. when you can stand on the street corner and make several hundred sometimes in half the time.

My sweet DDinlaw encountered a beggar as she entered a grocery store lot. He has a sign indicating her was hungry. DDinLaw bought some high quality protein bars and offered them to him as she left the store. He raged at her that he didn't want such things. I guess he wasn't so hungry.

I have decided to ignore any one asking for money. Perhaps some are legit, but most want quick money and no responsibility.

I was only asked once in a Walgreens car park in 2014 later in the evening (top of IDrive). Guy driving a nice big car needed fuel money and I responded, "No mate." Just kept walking.

Belfast has got bad in the evenings now and they're always in the bar areas in blue sleeping bags.
