We have always driven apart from once and it is a very easy drive! we use our Satnav which made things even easier! The tolls are simple to use! The first time I'd ever Driven in France was from Calais to Disney, don't worry you'll be fine, especailly as you have Satnav!

I did it a few weeks ago for the first time. Tolls are EUR19.60 which was a bit of a shock but the roads were great. I used my TomTom and it was absolutely perfect. You won't have anything to worry about.
As you are using your TomTom it will tell you it's a Toll route and do you want to use a different route. I didn't do this so can't comment on how much longer that might be.
