Engagement Party

Not really a wedding update as such, but I thought i'd share some of the pics from the engagement party, and a few of the gifts we got that will be put to use at the wedding. I made all the decorations myself

cheeky fiance decided to "cake me"

We were given this lovely photo frame that will definitely be featuring on our wedding day

and this sign

and lastly my favourite -

Aside from these gifts the majority of people gave us vouchers and money and we are soooo overwhelmed by how generous everyone was A nice little bonus for the wedding fund

A collection of bits and bobs

Every time i'm out at the shops I end up buying some little bits and bobs for the wedding. anything thats pale green or pink gets purchased haha! Haven't quite come up with a purpose for everything yet but we have a BIG hall and stairwell to decorate so everything will come in handy somewhere

The Home will be covered up on this - may use to display order of the day type thingy

These are for my bridesmaid gift bags, that i'm also picking up little bits and pieces for along the way

general decor bits

My mum bought this wooden welcome banner, which i'm going to paint in our wedding colours -

Some photobooth props

This canvas sign, which i LOVE LOVE LOVE! The funny thing is, when I was out with my mum dress shopping on Monday (more on that later) it was hanging in the shop. My mum pointed out and said how lovely it was. 2 days later, I was in Primark, had just walked away from the cash desk and seen a big stand with sale items, and this was in there, reduced to £1! I felt like it was fate, and it sealed to me the fact that ive made the right decision about my dress too

I decided shortly after booking the wedding that I was going to have a go at doing my own flowers, because I simply refuse to spend several hundred pounds on flowers that are going to die a few days later, and realistically we'll be off on honeymoon so we will only get to enjoy them on the day. I spotted some lovely foam roses in hobbycraft, and decided to have a go at putting together a bridesmaid bouquet. Here's my attempt, and when I say attempt, it literally took me 30 seconds. For the flowers on the day il make sure its really even and nicely round, but they are really lovely and far cheaper than a real one would be. Not a great pic but here you go...

Great plans so far Jilly, we're also hand making a lot of props for our wedding, and I'm also a teacher (well, trainee) trying to plan a wedding at the same time! You've done so well with all of your bits and bobs!

LOVE the engagement shoot, just the photography style I love too. Great news on booking them for the wedding!

THE DRESS!

Well, as mentioned above, my mum and I have been out dress shopping. We went out one day last week, and I tried on a few dresses, but nothing took my breath away. As mentioned in my first posts on page 1, I want a tea length dress. I just love the look of them, and think they look so comfortable compared with a long dress. Even having a long dress on in the wedding shops for a few minutes, i found them heavy and uncomfortable, but the tea length ones were swingy and twirly and fun

The 2 dresses i posted on my first page are out - the first one I can only find 1 stockist of it, but they no longer have a sample. I had found another company who stocked it in Kent, and they did a home delivery trial service, so last week I ordered it for home trial, and paid then £25. The second dress is by a dress maker in brighton, I simply cant afford trips down there as well as the cost of the dress.

In the meantime, I had 2 more appointments on Monday just gone. The first shop was a vintage wedding dress specialist, who has a massive selection of vintage dresses (genuine vintage, not just vintage style) as well as a collection of 50's style dresses. I told her what I wanted - big, tulle skirt, lace top, possibly a pink waistband, and within 10 minutes she had me in the dress of my dreams

I cant show you a picture of the actual dress because its basically going to be customised to my specification, but its STUNNING! My mum knew straight away it was the one as well, because she said even though I had tried others I liked, in this dress I was beaming!

I decided there and then that it was the one, and arranged to make payment to hold my spot for next year (its an independent shop with just the 1 girl running it so she can only take so many clients!).

It wasnt until we left the shop that my mum reminded me of the other dress that was due to arrive for a home trial the following day. BUT, as fate would have it, when I got home, I checked my emails and I had an email to say they were refunding my money because they didnt have it in stock any longer. IT WAS FATE!

So the dress is done

Seeing as I can't show you some wedding dress prettiness, I shall show you some bridesmaid dress ideas...

Inspiration Pictures -

I've been building a wee collection of photos and ideas from online, other threads on here, pinterest etc, so just going to share some of my inspiration so you can see the kinda "vision" for the day...

Thinking of doing a DIY version of these as out favours

Something yummy for the cake table / sweetie bar. Decided to combine these because I love cake and Robert loves sweets, so will have a mixture of the 2.

I made Mini Egg Rocky Road at easter and it was SO simple (and delicious) so im going to make some of that for the cake table too.

Last but not least - THE HONEYMOON

Or should I say Disneymoon?

For me there really was no doubt about where I wanted to go for the Honeymoon. Robert was a bit unfussed, but before we had even had a joint talk about where to go for honeymoon, I had already been researching and planning ideas for a Disneymoon. It soon just became fact that we were going to Florida. Which was probably a bit unfair of me, but when I asked Robert where he wanted to go, he didnt really come up with anything else. We talked about just going a fortnight all inclusive in the med in order to save for a big Disneymoon a year later, but it was coming in at over 2k which I thought was silly money to spend for the sake of saving money, if that makes sense?!

I keep asking Robert if there's somewhere else he'd rather go, but he says he just loves how happy and excited Disney makes me, and so he's happy to go along with it. He isnt excited in the least though, but i'm hoping its just because its so far away, as i'm sure he'll get excited closer to the time. I hope so anyway

anyway the plans I've come up with so far!

First 5 nights will hopefully be spent here -

Then off to the coast for a few nights to relax at the beach.

After that we'll head back to Orlando where we will check in at a hotel in Lake Buena Vista (not sure which yet but want somewhere close to DTD) and during the next 13 nights we will also be popping here for an overnight stay -

I have a 3 week rough itinerary planned, but nothing is set in stone as yet, first things first we need to get our flights booked so at the moment there's not much else we can plan.

Not going into too much detail about things we have planned as yet, as i'll save them for the Disneymoon Pre trippie

and thats about it for now! Thanks for reading if you've made it this far

Thanks for reading! Ah, how far are you into your teacher training? Good luck with it! It's stressful trying to hold down a teaching job and plan a wedding at the same time!

Oohee! I only just caught up with this one!

Every single thing to do with the wedding looks AMAZING! That would have been my dream venue / decor palette if Id had a summer wedding! (we went for a rustic winter theme as we got married in January!).

Love the shoes too! Beautiful!

And the Honeymoon... well what can I say! Is there really another choice

Everything sounds beautiful, love the vintage thing.. and short twirly dresses are so elegant but fun as well.
Everywhere i go there is vintage stuff, ( i love everything vintage myself, and i am collecting vintage stuff for my bedroom (when we get back from florida it will be done).
if you have a b&m near you, i noticed some very pretty things.
