I would not risk using them when 2 years old
Don't know if there is a way they can check them for you
Even at 2 years plus they will work for entry and MM
It's just the video as you would not get picked up on ride
Besides the new Magic band2 us out now so even if mine was only a year old I'd still want a new one

We are going to be using ours again but will only be 5 months old, so shouldn't be a problem.

I used mine Sept last year which was exactly 2 years since I bought them in Sept 2014, they mostly worked fine, but yes they didn't work for the 7DMT and ToT videos, the static ride pics were fine as you could touch the band to the screen at the end of the ride, but it didn't do the videos. If you want the videos then after 2 years they wont work, but other than that they worked for everything else. Ill be getting new one this time as Im staying onsite for the first time, so presumably they will be the new ones!

The short range facilities - where you tap the bands against a scanner - of the MagicBands will last 'forever'. That part of the Magicband doesn't require batteries. So you will be able to enter a park, enter a fastpass queue, link photos to your account with an old Magicband for many, many years.

The only part that requires batteries is the long range facility - eg. automatically linking ride photos and videos to your account. In this case, the batteries last for 2 years.

We got Magicbands in Aug 2014 and I used my old one in Apr 2016 for a while and it worked fine.

We got the magicbands and then took them with us two years later. They worked fine but the photos may not have gone on them, I'm unsure. But one of my daughters lost hers and needed bought a new one, so I'm assuming the photos went on to her band and so we still got them.

I've got three. Used them all in February 2017. The second Ines were from August 2015 and the first from shortly after whenever they first came out as I recall.
