Even the FP + queues were long at the Disney parks this time. We were not very impressed with the FP+ system at all. Queued for over 30 mins for ToT, for instance, and in some queues it seemed the non FP queue was quicker! Universal's EP much better.. but you pay extra for it I guess.

We've just come back and the longest queue time for 7DMT was 5 hours! People obviously waited that long as you could see them there in the queue.
We were fortunate (if you can class having a child with additional needs fortunate) enough to have the DAS card which meant that the longest time we queued for any fasts ride was around 30min. Quite honestly if we'd had to queue for longer than 1 hour we just wouldn't have bothered. None of the rides were that good - we enjoyed them, don't get me wrong, i just don't think they were good enough to wait stupid amounts of time for.

i might be wrong but i got the impression that the FP didn't guarantee you a shorter queue time as obviously if everyone thats been issued one for that time slot turns up at the same time then you are going to have a long queue time.

However, the CMs loading the ride will prioritise guests in the fastpass queue over those in the standby queue. Thus, although the fastpass queue might look longer than the standby queue, the fastpass queue will move quicker.

Also, unlike Universal, Disney limits the number of fastpass slots for any particular time slot reducing the likelihood that huge numbers of guests will queue up at the fastpass queue at the same time.

So, almost always, those in the fastpass queue will have a shorter wait than those in the standby queue. However, what FP+ does not guarantee is that those in the fastpass queue will have a short wait; you can still wait for 30mins if the standby queue is 90mins long.

They're letting too many people in, Disney are too greedy.

Usually, people will have already bought their tickets before they arrive. Disney will have already got their money whether they let them in or not. So greed has nothing to do with it.

You can't blame Disney for the fact that lots of people want to visit during the popular Easter hols even though they know it's going to be busy. And you can't blame Disney for people continuing to join a queue once it gets past, say, 2 hours long.

There would be even more disgruntled and unhappy guests if Disney stopped letting people into the park or stopped them joining a queue. Disney does stop letting people in once the park reaches capacity but this didn't happen in this case.

Disney is trying to put people off visiting during these busy period by increasing ticket prices during peak times. Clearly, they need to increase prices even more to put more people off.

Unfortunately, most people with school age children, and certainly those of us who work in education, can only visit at the busiest and most expensive times! Maybe summer hols are a bit less busy, but not sure we would cope with the heat.
