Weather affecting plan

Hello,

Just had a look at the forecast and thunderstorms are due for our day at Blizzard Beach, will it still be open?

This is our first time so unsure how much the weather will affect our plans!

Thanks

Most times thunderstorms are forecast it's for a short part of the day. They will close if there's lightening though.

Most of the time, the thunderstorms will only last for a short period - not all day. So, it might only affect you for an hour or so whilst there. Plus, thunderstorms can be very localised over there - it can be raining in Magic Kingdom whilst dry as a bone at Blizzard Beach. So it's possible the thunderstorm won't affect you at all.

Just before we went in August 2014, we looked online and saw that thunderstorms were predicted for every day of our holiday. However, whilst we were there it only actually rained on 3 days and most of the time it was sunny and hot. Therefore, I wouldn't necessarily rely on weather predictions.

Look outside on the day your going if it's not raining go, the weather can be so unpredictable so just go when you plan (As long as it's not a major storm outside).
We found afternoon is the risky time as this is usually when the storms roll in as it gets to peak temp.
Get there at opening and go for it.
As mentioned above we went one year and one side of the highway was bathed in sun the other was torrential rain :-)

Thank you for your help, I think I just need to stop checking the forecast and see what happens when we're there!

Before we went I kept checking the forecast. The second week most days showed as 30-40% chance of rain/thunderstorms. We had nothing but blue clear skies for 2 whole weeks. Hopefully you will be the same.😀

Yeah, it's worth looking at a website that shows the % chance of thunderstorms. If the chance of thunderstorms is 30% then what that means is that it's more likely there won't be thunderstorms (70% chance of no storm). Therefore, it's only an issue if the chance gets above 50%.

Even then, as I mentioned earlier, the storm(s) might not affect BB.

We have just returned
Sunday was our day at MK and the day before they were forecasting rain at 90% including thunderstorms for the area.
We had the most amazing day with no rain and perfect conditions so don't stress too much.

Just watched the 7 day forecast on the news and there is no rain forecast at all, which is bad because we need it.

I wouldn't pay much attention to anything over 3 days anyway as it can change daily.

Enjoy your holiday
