Fastpass queries
Hi
Last time I stayed on Disney was 2010, last time I visited Disney was 2011 so I know quite a few things have changed. I am going to be staying in POR from 7th July for two weeks. I am trying to plan for fastpasses and wondered whether if there is extra magic hours would I be best going to that particular park that day or avoiding it. Also if the parks are open early if you are staying onsite do all the big rides open? i.e. would we be able to go round to them and get on them if the park isn't open to everyone yet? When I use my three fastpasses and can then book other passes, is this just one at a time or can I book another three at the same time? Feel a bit confused by it all Thanks in advance Debbie

If there is Extra Hours for hotel guests I tend to use those, however I do not necessarily make that my main park for the day. If they are morning hours I will go there in the morning and then park hop to one of the parks listed as most recommended on the busy day guide. If they are evening hours, I will go to another park then head over there in the evening to make use of the extra hours.
If you look online you will find a list of what rides are open during the extra hours in all of the parks. They are quite long lists so I imagine they include most if not all rides. I can't ever remember anything ever being closed Once you have used your first 3 fastpasses you can then book another 1 at a time, not another 3. You do not have to wait for your full hour window to elapse, you can book another as soon as you have scanned your magic band into the ride you have booked the fastpass for

Not all rides are open during EMH. The DIBB Guidebook will tell you what is...

If you can, I'd recommend using the Extra Magic Hours, especially the morning ones. The parks are usually quieter during this time.
However, an hour or two after morning EMH (around 11am-ish), you may want to leave the park and go elsewhere. This is because the park starts to get busier due to the offsite guests arriving. Not all the rides are open during EMH, but many of them are. See the link that Simon provided. Popular rides like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at MK, Soarin' and Test Track at Epcot, Toy Story Mania at HS, Everest and the Safari at AK are all open during EMH. It's just one at a time after the first 3.
