Sandwiches to go?
We're staying at POR next April & I'm already doing a bit of planning (my favourite bit).
We're going to spend the odd day at Universal & I was wondering if POR do sandwiches to go? We're on the dining plan so I thought we could get some sandwiches from the food court to take with us & save a bit of money. We stayed there last year but didn't think of doing this so I'm not sure if it can be done. Thank you. |

You can always take some plastic lunch bags with you and buy everything you want then take it with you.
Do Univ allow you to take a pack lunch in the park?

I don't think they allow packed lunches but not sure how strict they are with their policies.

This is what it says on Universals website.
To me a sandwich is a small snack - a picnic lunch isn't allowed. I'd consider a picnic lunch to be more substantial than a sandwich - but then again, I don't work on security at Universal. Acceptable Items Bottled Water (maximum 2 liters) Small snacks that do not require heating Any food required for medical purposes and medically-indicated nutritional supplements Any food required for special dietary needs Baby food/baby formula Soft-sided insulated bags no larger than 8.5" wide x 6" high x 6" deep Prohibited Items Glass containers Open containers Hard-sided coolers Soft-sided coolers larger than 8.5" wide x 6" high x 6" deep Picnic lunches Food that requires heating or refrigeration Folding chairs |

Just tell them you need gluten free and dairy free or something like that if they question it.

you can 100% take packed lunches into universal, we bought water/subs/crisps at 7/11 on the way & took them in a small soft thermal lunch bag in a back pack
these bags get checked in the way in no one batted an eyelid |

I'm sure at FQ they had some wraps that you could take away. The packaging was massive though so I'd probably take a couple of sandwich bags with you if you fancy doing this.

From Riverside the sandwich I had was toasted so not sure if that would work for you but they also did muffalattas so as others have suggested if you had some bags you could bag it up rather than use the really big plastic boxes. There are fridges in the rooms so you could get one elsewhere on site the day before.

They will have a small selection of pre-packed sandwiches/wraps in the chilled cabinets.

Almost any counter serve will package meals "to go" as will many restaurants. I also think unless being grilled or toasted in the essence of a sandwich (ie grilled cheese) most will prepare one without the cooking, just ask.
