We've been to GC a few times now but our last visit put us off going back. Nothing in particular caused this (except maybe the deep fried bacon in batter) just a general feeling of we've tried it and done it.

If you really must do the whole buffet experience i'd recommend Ponderosa over GC.
We just felt the quality and service were better overall.

Although not been for about 4 or 5 years now we always found the one at LBV to be much better than the other two we visited which were on Idrive and the 192. We went as the kids loved the choice of food but have to admit I always thought the roast turkey was superb.

Not sure I'll venture in one this year but may do when the whole family are over in 2020 as I'm sure the son in laws will enjoy the unlimited food !

I’d be interested to hear which venues are considered better than others, based on experiences. We went to a relatively new one on the 192 last time, which was ok.

can't beat Ice Cream and gummy bears for breakfast on your 1st day, after a plate of bacon of course

The locals do this but all on the same plate.

Go for breakfast - not as busy. Good selection of food and some of it is nice. Good value.

If you don't like breakfast I wouldn't try dinner. It is carnage.

Been for breakfast loads of times and we really like it. Went once for dinner and it was crazy busy and not enjoyable at all.

Wow - really polarised opinions.
I'm erring on the "not for us" side, as I hate Ponderosa...
I may outvoted by everyone else though!

We came back at the weekend from a 2 week trip. We have been GC fans for years. We tried it twice for breakfast on this trip... and thought it has really gone downhill. The service was poor, the selection is much less than it used to be and the quality just didn't seem great. It's still a cheap way to have breakfast though, but I don't think we'll be rushing back.

I think I read somewhere on here that Ponderosa had closed.
Have I got it wrong?
