I use kennels for mine, was recommended the kennels on here. It’s like £10 a day and the dog likes it, so I’m happy.

Our dog goes to a dog sitter who looks after him in her home.
He loves going there and is throughly spoilt when he goes for his holidays.
We get regular photos and messages while we’re away which we look forward to.
It costs £15 per day and we drop him off the day before we fly

We use doggy daycare during the week. They're open 7am - 6pm, and £20. Luna goes once a week usually, mainly for socialisation, and she utterly loves it. I'm contemplating leaving her with my mum, but she can be in daycare for 3 or 4 days each week.

We also use a fabulous local dog boarder. She is nuts about dogs and has 5 of her own! She is £25 a night. My only minor niggle with her is that Luna doesn't get a good run, as the dog boarder won't walk her off lead (she's a crazy lurcher with questionable recall). But, she often has 5/6/7 dogs sleeping on her bed, or over her sofas, and I know the dogs get spoilt rotten.

Also used a lovely local kennels. Only 9 pens each side of a corridor, with heated floors, lovely long runs, and acres of penned in fields. It's £26/ day.

It might be worth mentioning that all these places are registered with the local council, and have adequate insurance. My step daughter had need to claim off her daycare boarders insurance earlier this year. The claim ran into many thousands, so this is something important to us (obviously as well as having somewhere Luna loves to be)

Such a difficult thing to find someone you're happy with. Good luck x

Ours goes to the local kennels, £21 a day including food. He's a lab, so in the middle of their price range. It's in the countryside with a big field where they can run around in carefully selected groups, depending on size and temperament - our boisterous lab would be far too much for some small dogs. If dogs are nervous then they're taken outside for walks on their own if necessary - the staff are very careful.

They love him, and he absolutely adores being there - he knows the route and gets very excited when he knows where he's going.

They also have a grooming parlour so I usually book him in for a beauty treatment before he comes home

Mine goes to a local kennel. He was rescued at 20months and had never been inside a house so even though he loves his luxuries now he was never phased by going to a kennel and actually gets excited by the other dogs barking! The kennel we use is lovely and has a hotel section where the kennels have an armchair and a tv! They have a groom room and also a hydrotherapy pool. We pay £15 per night for our medium size dog in a regular kennel though when we go away at Xmas like this year they do charge double on Xmas day, Boxing Day and NYE as they have to pay their staff double time.

Mum and dad will have ours (sadly we got a pup at the end of October and it didn’t work out at all so we will be starting our search again next spring) and we always have mum and dads. They’re more seen as family dogs so it was always the agreement that they would be looked after by all of us.

But we also have a fantastic homemboarders that our boy LOVES. The 14 week old obviously hasn’t been there yet (mum and dad have a 3yo and a 14 week old) but he will once he’s over 1 if there’s a time we’re all away again.

Just need to work out what you would be happy with we’re very lucky that we have mum and dad to have ours when he arrives, and we have theirs.
