Thomas Cook

Hi all,

We have found really good priced flights for our trip next year with Thomas Cook, but we are finding ourselves hanging fire due to the uncertainty of Thomas Cooks recent financial situation.

Is anyone else in the same thought process?

Nope,we fly with them in 5 weeks and are looking again at booking with them next year, just book with a credit card and get end supplier failure insurance!
They look like being bought out by Fosun which should be sorted by October and should stabilise their future!
Fosun want to concentrate on Chinese tourism which is a big market for Thomas Cook!

We've got our Sept/Oct 2020 trip booked with TC and have no worries at all.

Just ensure you have full protection in place so that's either booked with a CC or ensure you have end supplier failure cover in your insurance.

While you can’t deny Thomas cook are struggling financially their far from going bust to the point that they have companies looking to buy them out something which wouldn’t happen if they thought they weren’t going to pull through! You see if someone buys an active company they will have to take on all their liabilities debts and bookings, if they thought for a second they were going bust they would simply wait for it to happen and then buy their assets without the liabilities!

Ignoring all of that if you book a package you just need to ensure you have insurance and know that between that and Abta you would be covered!

We are flying with them in 3 weeks and have already booked our September 2020 trip with them. We have the insurance if anything happens but we do like flying with them and found the to be a lot cheaper than VA who we flew with for10 years before we switched to TC.

Nope I would not book Thomas cook but not because of their financial status, if you book with a credi5 card and have travel insurance what is the fear ?

People forget that Thomas cook and Thomas cook airlines are separate companies. Thomas cook airlines are not doing badly.

Correct, TC Airlines are extremely profitable still.. it's just their tour side which isn't great due to the purchase of MyTravel.

This Fosun deal should complete by the end of Oct so hopefully things start to look up!
