Mobile Selfie sticks

So..Selfie sticks...are they really banned or is it possible to get away with sneaking them into Disney? What about the other Orlando theme parks are they banned there too? Any advice would be useful because I really want to take mine in.

Yes, they're banned for safety reasons. You can use the little sticks to hold phones (don't know the proper name), but not the extending selfie sticks.

And with good reason. However careful you might be with yours, there are plenty of eejits who'll extend them on rides and vandalise the interiors, not to mention poking out the eyes of fellow guests.

These were just beginning to become a thing on our last WDW visit in 2014, and they were already a menace to life and limb!

If found at bag search you will be asked to check it in and pick it up on your exit. If found using them in the park you'll be stopped and asked to do the same.

Yes they are banned at Disney. Don't break the rules.

There is nowhere I could find that says you can't bring selfie sticks to Universal and Seaworld however they are not permitted on rides.

As above, they are banned.

Person in front of me at bag search had one in her bag - she was told by security to take it back to her car - or put in a locker.

They should take a hardline approach to security, the rules are there for a reason.

Someone could make an honest mistake and have left an item in their bag which is fair enough, but someone purposely trying to sneak a prohibited item through or get around security rules should be denied access whatever the prohibited item.
