Dining Reservations at City Walk

We want to book one or two table service restaurants at City Walk but not sure if it's the same as Disney? Some questions we have -

Do Universal hotel guests have priority for booking like Disney does?
Do you need to book 6 months in advance like you do for the popular DW restaurants?
Best way to go about booking these - website, phone etc.?

We're just visiting Universal throughout our holiday rather than staying onsite. Have never eaten in City Walk so really not sure on how popular the restaurants are and how quick reservations go!

some are on opentable and take reservations others can be booked via universal website about 30 days in advance and yes your hotel key gets you priority seating and landrys card gets u seating at Bubbas

We’ve never really booked anywhere at citywalk and have generally been ok. We normally stay in July and a couple of times places have been full but they’ve texted us within 10-15 minutes.
We often book one or two of the table service places in the park but maybe only the week we are going to be there.
It’s all way more laid than Disney in terms of booking tables.

I have never booked anything on Citywalk and have rarely waited, I think I have only come across a queue at Cowfish. I tend to avoid peak dining period though.

When we checked in to RPR last time I asked at the hotel how “priority” seating worked at Citywalk and they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. I am still perplexed as to how it would physically work as I cannot imagine barging past everybody in the Cowfish queue to demand the next available table. I think I will continue to work on the basis that there is no such thing.

You don’t barge past people, you queue and then instead of them saying it’ll be a #minute wait and giving you a buzzer you’ll get the next available table. Similar to if you’re using a Landry card. It isn’t very well advertised so I guess the check in staff don’t all know about it but the restaurants do. A bit like how some CM’s at Disney have no idea what you mean when you ask about dining credits!


OP, Cowfish have an app that you can use and it’ll tell you when the next table will be but priority seating works better in my experience. If it’s busy enough to need to use it!

That makes sense. Although the one time I encountered a queue at Cowfish (couple of years ago) it didn't work like that, they just had everybody lining up and took them through in turn as a table came free, hence my puzzlement.

Ah ok. We only got around to trying Cowfish for the first time 2 years ago so they must have changed how they organise people since you tried. Luckily for me as there is no way I could just wander past people expecting to be prioritised!
