It really is heartbreaking to hear of all these people falling ill, there have been a few very recent cases spoken about here on the Dibb.
We all moan about things but it certainly puts life into perspective when you hear stories like this. I hope his treatment goes well.

We live in Wigan, rugby team is st Jude’s
It is in the local paper. Can’t speak for Facebook as my family are not on that. We are just devastated especially my son and husband who have trained with him since the age of 6. We are in a daze at the moment. We have a big meal with him on Wednesday, the whole team before he starts his treatment. He is a very talented, funny and sweet lad. Heartbreaking |

Very sad for boy and his family and also your son.
None of know what is ahead. Two weeks ago my 19 year old ds was at a music festival and by the following weekend 3 young lads from our wider local are were dead. One had a reaction to a substance, one committed suicide and one died in a car crash. The lad who died in car crash had been a year behind my ds in school, had been due to pick up his A level results the day before his funeral and study the same Engineering course at Uni that ds is doing. Really shook my ds and the youngsters in the town. So cherish every day we have because tomorrow is a given 💕 |

All my best thoughts for the young boy and his family. Our family have had the worst year of our lives. You really dont know whats going to happen so live your best life everyday and dont save things for best. Do what makes you happy with whoever makes you smile. Life is far too short |

Such sad news and I'm really sorry to hear it.
My son was a rugby player from the age of 13 he's almost 30 now and a couple of years ago a friend from the team passed away unexpectedly after cycling home from work, he was only 27 and left a wife and 3 children.

Omg, so sorry to read this & at such a young age. This sounds similar to my darling sister, who after a routine visit to the opticians was fast-tracked to Harley Street and diagnosed with Ocular Melanoma & had to have her eye removed. She is currently undergoing Immunotherapy (as we (as a family) have only just learned that apparently melanomas don’t respond to chemotherapy). Unfortunately although my sister had her eye removed (she has a prosthetic there), it’s a blood-borne cancer & has now spread to her liver & lungs, although thankfully her brain scan is clear of lesions. They hope the Immunotherapy will extend her life by 3 years (she's only in her early 50’s). If it is the same cancer, there is a fantastic charity called Ocumel UK who support patients & their families through this, as it’s such a rare (and in my sister’s case, aggressive cancer, although every case is different) and there are no clear pathways for treatment that commonly exist for more well known about cancers, so this charity exists to support such patients, sometimes finding out about clinical trials & such-like that they may be eligible for. It’s run by the daughter of a patient who sadly passed after being diagnosed & they’ve been raising money to employ a specialist nurse advisor. I hope the little lad is not as severely affected, but just want to let you know of the potential help out there as I’d never heard of the charity before my sister was diagnosed.

Awful news for the lad & his family, but if you want to tell them, my friend was diagnosed with the same 2 years ago, she has been under extensive treatment & had now got the all clear but will be under observation for the next 5 years in case it has moved elsewhere. She had been on a special trail Immunotherapy treatment.
Sending Pixie Dust for all concerned.
