Thumbs up Wet 'n Wild's newest ride

Wet 'n Wild's newest ride, the Blast.

The Blast is the first fully themed ride at Wet 'n Wild. The idea behind the Blast is that a water-main burst has created a mess of colorful broken pipes, gushing geysers and unpredictable jets of water. So while the mighty maintenance duo Cooter and Earl try to fix things, Wet 'n Wild lets park guests ride the rapids of an emergency-turned-marketing dream.

Wet 'n Wild designers have been working on the ride since January, and it was staff input that helped bring the creative ride to life.

"We have a wonderful staff," marketing manager Sandra Sciarrino says. "They're always coming up with unique and exciting things."

The official ride opening will come in mid-May although guests can try out the ride now.

With its rushing waters and fast turns, the Blast fits right in with the park's other thrill rides, such as the heart-stopping Bomb Bay or the dizzying Storm. One or two people can ride the Blast, but there are height restrictions, and it probably isn't a good choice for the nonthrill-seekers in the family. As the rider splashes into the pool at the end of the Blast, he surfaces and shakes off a flurry of water droplets.

I wish they would spend just a bit of money on making the place look less like a concrete jungle that gives an impression you are in the middle of London.

Totally agree with you Karen, the place is a complete concrete bore compared to BB and TL. Def. could do with a re-furb! I have a vague recollection that the lockers were all rusty too and quite smelly!

For me that doesn't do the "rides" at waterparks, a comfy place to sunbath and a nice view mean alot to me and I felt let down by W&W after we'd done the DWP first!

We're even thinking of giving it a complete miss next time we go but I expect when the boys realise there is a new feature there, we may have to go now!
