That’s Hawaiian airlines. The others are pay on board. To me it’s a long flight from WC to Hawaii but reading other forums to Americans it’s not because it’s about the same length as the flight from New York to LA so they’re used to 5 hour flights with nothing provided now but for transatlantic I do really like the American Airlines and find they don’t nickel and dime you (free seat selection even) the way they do on domestic flights.

I have no issues with BA (well this year we could be affected by the strike!) and collect Avios but I try to redeem them on AA or Aer Lingus because the redemption is cheaper and then I can select my seat for free vs the £85 each BA want for a pair of seats by the window. You can also redeem on Alaska airlines which we did for going out to Hawaii and it was only 12,500 Avios and $6.

Thank you for all the info. We used avios on AA lax to hnl and only paid 15 pound each! With BA it’s ridiculous how many points needed

About Alaska airlines. To use avios do you still book through BA website?

With AA do they charge for cases as extra? What about if using points as well?

Thanks again

We have flown with AA LHR to LAX, thought it was better than the Virgin Dreamliner

The plane was quite new, ife was very good and the cabin crew were very friendly

Sorry for jumping on, but I would be interested how to do this as well as I do quite well with my avios points and would defo use them for a flight to Hawaii.

For us we paid for flight to lax from London
Then used avios points from lax to Honolulu
Think 17,000 points per person
Just paid the tax
They only do a few seats per flight so you need to work out approx when available and then check daily
If you log in to BA under use avios points for flight you can do pretend booking to see how many points

Yes, that’s the part that I look at and think that it’s expensive.
