Tragic news - need insurance advice
Hello,
We’ve had some tragic news today about a sudden unexpected death in the family. We fly on Monday. Haven’t told the kids yet I can’t bring myself to do it but looks like we will have to cancel. I’m too late to ring the insurance (puffin) but checked my policy and it shows £3000 cover for cancellation- is that per person or no? The policy is a family one. Still in shock I think but absolutely heartbroken and then some more at the fact I have to break 2 bits of sad news to my super excited 3&5 year old x

No advice other than to ring insurance company asap. I’m not sure whether they cover for this reason if the person that passed away is not a very close relative.

Most policies its per person but should say in small print. Also as PP says it may depend how close a relative to be covered - sorry for your loss. I would contact the insurance tomorrow but maybe see if you can leave options open for a couple of days to get your head around things incase you decide to travel.

It was my husbands brother so very close.
All booked with my magic holiday so might call them tomorrow also. Thanks

merkat - So sorry for your loss.
I hope magic holiday are able to provide advice and support to you at this difficult time. Something to bear in mind for the flight part of the holiday some airlines will allow a "postponement" for times like this and if appropriate ask the travel agent dealing with you. Every airline is different but worth a mention. |

I've just been looking at our insurance as there's a possibility that we may have to cancel - ours states £5000 per person insured.
