Universal Orlando Plans to Open to Guests on 5 June

This week the theme parks have been submitting their plans for reopening to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force. The plan outlines a phased reopening starting with staff on 1 June, Passholders on 3 June and general public on 5 June.

Orange County must endorse the reopening plans prior to submitting to the state for a final decision on reopening.

Similar methods for entry, queues and notices that are currently being employed at Universal's City Walk will be implemented along with additional measures that will impact rides and attractions.

Some of the changes..
  • Interactive play areas will remain closed.
  • 3D Glasses will be individually handed out rather than being picked out of a bin.
  • Water and mist effects on rides and queues will be disabled.
  • Single rider lines will remain closed.
  • Virtual queue system to be used for the more popular rides.
  • Character meet and greets will not be available.
  • Characters that do appear will do so at a distance.
  • No Parades.
  • There will be no Buffets or Self Service.
  • individually wrapped condiments.
  • individually wrapped cutlery.
  • Contactless payments to be encouraged, cash as a last resort.
  • Menus will be single use disposable type.

Interesting to see how they can disable water effects on rides. Imagine a log flume or river rapids with no water in them, surely those rides have to stay shut

i believe its just referring to the spray and mist effects which spread throughout the air.

Sorry, but unless the price is reflective of what you get, this and most likely Disney’s 'bang for buck' is just not there for international visitors.
Are you willing to spend that amount of money for a ticket to try virtual queues that might fail to get you on 25% ish of the rides?

Absolutely yes! We are due to go the first week of November and have an open mind. If we can go we will!

We won't be comparing the "what used to be" with the "what we have now"; instead we will be enjoying the experience on offer, taking time to reflect the past 3 months of lockdown and to get some life balance reset.

The people will still be awesome, the theming will still be awesome, what will be on offer will still be awesome and we are going to accept it all with a happy excited mindset!

I feel this way, too As long as it's properly managed, they let us in the country / fly us there, quarantine measures don't make it impossible both ways, and HHN is running, I'm there! There's a lot to ask there, but I remain a little hopeful, at least.

What will they do? Close the park when it gets to the capacity it’s now setting? I wouldn’t want to go to Disney or universal and not be allowed into a park I have already paid for

How will they disinfect rides in between riders eg like the shopping trolley cleaning. Or will they not bother? I can see guests only getting to go on 25% of the rides if a)families must ride together and b) rides are cleaned in between each user. I’m not against what they’re proposing; I just wonder how it will work effectively. I’m an annual pass holder and can’t wait to go back but want it to be a good experience when we do return.
