Gatwick Hilton dinner?

The last time (maybe 5 years ago) we had the buffet dinner at the hilton gatwick we were disappointed with the choice and quality of the food. Has anyone had a buffet dinner there recently as we are in two minds whether to risk it?

We have stayed there about 6 or 7 times using Tesco Deals and have to say we agree completely as to the deteriorating choice.

They sent me an email survey just after our stay about 10 days ago (prior to our flight ) and asked me to complete a satisfaction survey. We were happy with breakfast buffet choice and quality but I laid into them a bit about dinner.

Then surprisingly a couple of days later I received an email from a real person at Hilton asking if I could expand.

My biggest grip was that there was far too much Quorn, humus and quinua (whatever that stuff is). I concluded that the head chef had planned 90% of the buffet to satisfy 10% of the population. Quality was reasonable I guess.

As an example on the cold starters. 5 years ago there was a massive display of shrimp on a bed of ice and you could have a pound of them if you like as a starter. This time there were small glass ramekins half filled with lettuce, two prawns and three mussels. Joan doesn't like mussels so I ate hers. I went back to get a portion (or two) for myself and they'd all gone)

Thanks for the info and it looks like we might get sômething in marks and sparks for dinner. There isn't much choice before security and we previously tried the giraffe restaurant which wasn't that good either.

At least the breakfast is okay (we used some avios points for the hotel and breakfast).
