Mobile Full size car question?

Normally hire a SUV but as were travelling around this time I think I'd be better with a full size car as there will be occasions when I'll need to leave some luggage in car and SUVs don't have covered cargo area. Does anyone know if I'd get 3 large suitcases (Tripp ones) in the trunk of a full size car. It says Ford Fusion (Mondeo in UK) or similar. TIA

The fusion has a small boot opening and we could only get 2 soft cases in it. Last trip we had an Impala and the boot was much bigger but even then three hard cases would be difficult. If you hire from Alamo you will be able to chose.

when we travelled as a family of 5 we got a full size or larger (premium or luxury) and always had plenty of room. The one time we were uncomfortable was when we had an SUV. But this was 15 years ago or do.

The step up from full wasn't too much money and was much more comfortable to ride in.

Thanks Greyfriars, booking a BA deal so will be with Avis. I normally use Alamo though.

Last year Avis had a swap row, but we didn’t look too much at it. Not sure if still there. I’ve looked over the Impala inside test track at Epcot and the boot is huge.

We always struggled to get 3 or 4 cases in a full size car boot. The Impala was probably the best and the step up to Premium/Luxury brought in bigger cars such as the 300 and Cadillac.

It never worried us as we only had a max of three passengers so slung some cases on the back seat.

Here's the trunk of our Dodge Charger, swallowed all our luggage with plenty of room to spare. I didn't notice a swap line in May, but to be fair I wasn't looking to swap.

Thanks guys, any ideas on best way to hide luggage if I get the SUV. Thinking maybe just a black sheet or something?

You could "borrow" one of the sleep blankets they give you on the flight over ?

I reckon you'd be okay with a chevy impala, that's what we had this year and the boot was huge.
